Brixton Academy, London On Metronomy's last album, Summer 08 (2016), Joseph Mount reminisced about the time just before the breakthrough success of their second album, Nights Out (2008). In those intervening years, Mount has shifted from bedroom producer to playing sold-out Brixton Academy shows. The PRS Foundation and the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop have announced the Oram Awards, which celebrate women who are innovating in music and sound. The awards are named after BBC Radiophonic Workshop co-founder Daphne Oram. RóisÃn Murphy and mastering engineer Mandy Parnell (who worked on Jamie xx's In Colour and Aphex Twin's Syro) lead a panel of judges that includes representatives from the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop, PRS Foundation and the Daphne Oram Trust. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 3, at the Turner Contemporary Margate. |
